In the fourth quarter of 2024, the dining and restaurant app landscape in New Zealand saw varying trends across the top platforms, as revealed by Sensor Tower's data.
McDonald’s, published by McDonald's Global Markets LLC, experienced a downward trend in weekly downloads, starting from around 12K at the beginning of the quarter and decreasing to approximately 6.2K by the end of December. Weekly active users also showed a decline from 390K to about 263K.
KFC New Zealand, from Restaurant Brands, saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 3.7K and peaking at 10.1K in the last week of December. Active users followed a similar upward trajectory, starting at 37.3K and reaching approximately 66.1K by the quarter's end.
Domino's NZ downloads remained relatively stable throughout the quarter, fluctuating between 1.7K and 2.4K. However, the weekly active users initially spiked to 42.7K by late October before settling around 24.5K by year-end.
Pizza Hut New Zealand also from Restaurant Brands, maintained a consistent download rate, ranging from 1.9K to 2.5K. Active users showed a gradual decline from 32.7K to around 25K over the quarter.
Lastly, Burger King NZ experienced relatively stable download numbers, starting at 2.5K and ending at 2.3K. Active users exhibited a slight increase, ending the quarter at approximately 29.9K.
